Now we're looking to reinforce our team with people who are decisive, brilliant - and built for speed. The Director of Project Management reports to the VP, Healthcare Analytics (HCA). HCA is responsible for governing all analytic products and services within UnitedHealth Group, and serves as a national support organization for analytic platforms & applications development, implementations, training and ongoing operations. This position has overall accountability for the Health care analytic's project management team and is responsible for the overall program management function for analytic platform and application integrations, expansions and ongoing operations. The director will work closely with the other UHG management personnel in developing and integrating business analytic platforms, applications and tools across the company. The director is also responsible for the coordination and completion of projects across various functional areas. Provides subject matter expertise in areas including project management, project scope definition, risk identification, project methodology, resource allocation, facilitation, and other areas of expertise based on professional knowledge and background. Delivers presentations to senior management on project status, project cycle, and expected results. Ensures projects are completed on time and in scope. May manage vendor and service providers to define project scope and performance expectations. The director provides leadership to and is accountable for the performance of managers and/or senior level professional staff. Additional Duties to include but not limited to the following: - Project ownership for assigned departmental projects and initiatives
- Recruitment, orientation and training of all new staff
- Development and monitoring of performance objectives for all assigned staff, including periodic performance reviews
- Matrix management of support resources from other departments across UHG as well as project leadership involving assigned personnel from other divisions within UHG
- Development of service level agreements and associated customer service standards

- Bachelors degree, minimum; post graduate degree preferred
- 7+ years in healthcare, insurance or financial services industry, with a comprehensive understanding of both insurance products and healthcare services & programs* 10+ years experience developing business analytic platforms
- Experience developing and maintaining data models and analytic platforms directed at managing medical expenses in a managed care environment strongly desired; data mart/warehouse development & management experience preferred
- Strong financial, analytical, & project management skills; past experience with overall financial and/or operational responsibility for multimillion dollar initiatives &/or programs
- Experience developing business plans & budgets including setting & managing to performance metrics
- Strong negotiation skills; direct experience negotiating multimillion dollar contracts with IT vendors
- Proven track record at leading high performance work teams in a results driven environment
- Proven record of recruiting and retaining top talent
- Demonstrated ability to serve as a 'change agent' in a fast paced, changing business environment
- Excellent presentation skills & experience presenting to Senior Management personnel, particularly in a program leadership role
- Creativity and flexibility in problem solving particularly in managing limited resources in a rapidly changing environment
- Ability to work independently

- Travel required (10 - 25% possibly more).
