The Product Business Process & Quality Assurance Director is accountable for: - Overseeing the management and execution of process improvement projects for the Product and Innovation organization within the constraints of budget, schedule and scope
- Leading a team of business process analysts who identify best practices and process rationalization, ensuring team resources are aligned to UnitedHealthcare's highest priorities
- Driving quality assurance, with an emphasis on transparency, root cause analysis, cross-functional feedback and data collection, and data interpretation for optimal performance
- Coaching and staff development for Six Sigma methodologies
- Collaborating with Project Management and key operational functions to ensure comprehensive process efficiency
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: - Driving process rationalization and transparency for Product Development lifecycle, including the development and administration of plans across multiple platforms.
- Driving quality improvement across complex, integrated processes
- Establishing and training project management standards, process business rules and tools to be used throughout the organization
- Orchestrating and/or attending cross-functional meetings to support resource alignment; project issue resolution and communication of project status
- Engaging with UHG IT Product Development Support team to facilitate work on Product and Innovation strategic initiatives
- Collaborating with key Product partners to establish process and tools for Product development lifecycle management
- Fostering and maintaining collaborative relationships with internal customers, cross functional and cross segment business partners to ensure all product development implementations result in high quality execution and timely completion
- Mentoring and coaching team members on Six Sigma, Product Creation and Lifecycle Management process and deliverables
- Providing project leadership, direction and insight, including:
- Making presentations to management on project updates and expected results
- Maintaining integrity of program scope as defined by the Product and Innovation business owner(s)
- Tracking, assigning and resolving issues including escalation to senior management
- Canvassing team to identify all project risks, developing mitigation ideas and working to have strategies in place should they be needed
- Establishing and executing a project communication plan
- Indentifying conflict and managing resolution
- Negotiating with functional managers to obtain key resources or materials
- Developing and communicating project Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and proactively acting to improve project performance

- Master's degree in business or health care preferred
- Bachelor's degree or commensurate experience
- At least 2 years of Black Belt or Master Black Belt experience
- At least 3 years of project management experience
- PMP, PMI or equivalent industry recognized certification, preferred
- Experience leading large, complex process improvement or program management initiatives with multiple projects and dependencies, including system build/enhancement and integration of multiple business processes or systems
- At least 2 years of experience managing business analysts, including mentoring of greenbelt and black belts.
- Excellent team leadership, strong communication and organizational skills
- Strong project management skills, good business analysis skills, proficient computer skills and good writing skills
- Able to work with and communicate with all levels of the organization
- High energy, detail-oriented individual who is adaptable to change and requires minimal direction
- Knowledge of Healthcare products
- Broad understanding of other functions and business processes (e.g., Operations, IT, Regulatory/Compliance, Marketing, Underwriting, etc.)
- Detailed knowledge of Stage-Gate process and/or Product Development lifecycle
- Effective people management experience
