The Team Lead will contribute to the completion of specific sections of a risk based audit plan for the Internal Audit division of the company. Team Leads are the project managers of specific audit engagements for the entire audit life cycle. Includes leading a team of auditors during audits, day to day supervision, and mentoring of team members.  Specific responsibilities include:
  • Lead audits of financial records, operating procedures and internal controls for the capital market business areas as assigned.

  • Lead audits of financial records, operating procedures and internal controls for complex business areas as assigned.

  • Provide guidance in identification and assessment of inherent risks and controls.

  • Develop audit programs that determine the effectiveness of control activities.

  • Ensure adequate documentation of business processes, audit procedures and testing analysis, ensuring compliance with department standards.

  • Assess the relevancy of audit findings; identify potential risk exposures and their materiality/significance, and spot trends.

  • Present audit issues and final results to the customer both verbally and through written report as directed by the Manager/Director or Vice President, after their review and approval.

  • Establish productive working relationships with the customers during audit assignments.

  • Establish effective team environments, coordinating work assignments, monitoring progression of assignments and deviations from plan and operating within budgeted timeframes for the project.

  • Coach and train associate, staff and senior auditors in executing and documenting audit work and results.

  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned



  • BA or BS degree in, accounting, finance, business, technology or other related discipline required. Advance degree preferred.

  • Four or more years of public accounting, internal audit, technology or other related experience preferred.

  • Professional designation (e.g., CIA, CISA, CPA) preferred.

  • Ability to identify problems and recommend solutions to complex business and technical issues.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to present analysis and conclusions with clarity and professionalism.

  • Executive presence; experience in communicating across lines of business, and levels of management.

  • Ability to build consensus among a group with diverging views.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in execution of audits in accordance with professional practices and standards.

  • Strong project management, analytical, and critical thinking skills.

  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast paced environment focusing on consistently producing high quality results.

Required / Preferred Experience
  • Knowledge and experience in the mortgage or financial services industries a plus.

  • Audit experience including crafting and executing a risk-based, control-focused audit approach preferred.

  • Experience in one or more of the following is preferred:

    • GAAP/accounting research and financial services related accounting, (e.g., securitization, impairments, amortization, fair value accounting, etc.).  

    • Assessment of financial models, including validation of key assumptions and understanding of models' proper uses and limitations.

    • Counterparty credit analysis and credit risk management practices.

    • Underwriting of Commercial Real Estate or Multifamily credit analysis.
