Staff Auditors support audit teams in projects beginning with scope definition through the communication of results to customers in the business/support functions. Specific responsibilities include: - Participate in audits of financial records, operating procedures and internal controls for assigned business units.
- Assist Senior Auditors or Team Leads in the identification and assessment of inherent risks and controls.
- Contribute to development of audit programs and test plans to evaluate the effectiveness of control activities.
- Develop comprehensive documentation of processes, audit procedures and testing analysis for assigned areas, ensuring compliance with department standards.
- Contribute to the escalation of audit issues, drafting written communications to the customer, as assigned.
- Establish productive working relationships with the customers during audit assignments.
- Work effectively in a team environment.
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned
- BA or BS degree in accounting, finance, technology, business or other related discipline required. Advance degree preferred.
- One or more years of public accounting, internal audit, technology or other related business experience preferred.
- Professional designation (e.g., CIA, CPA, CISA) preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to present analysis and conclusions with clarity and professionalism.
- Developing knowledge of execution of audits in accordance with professional standards.
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment focusing on producing high quality results.
Required / Preferred Experience - Knowledge of the mortgage or financial services industries a plus.
- Experience in one or more of the following is preferred:
- GAAP/accounting research and financial services related accounting, (e.g., securitization, impairments, amortization, fair value accounting, etc.).
- Assessment of financial models, including validation of key assumptions and understanding of models' proper uses and limitations.
- Counterparty credit analysis and credit risk management practices
- Underwriting of Commercial Real Estate or Multifamily credit analysis
