Job Description:
This position encompasses the following :
Position Summary
The position shall develop proposals for implementation of significant performance improvements. Must be able to plan work methods and obtain results with minimal guidance and be accountable for results of programs and projects in assigned areas of responsibility. Will coordinate actions across multiple plants and across functions as necessary to achieve objectives. Authority in ISO quality management systems (or TS 16949) and have demonstrated ability to implement and maintain such systems. Able to utilize the QMS to continually improve and attain both tactical and strategic goals.
Responsibilities:
Develop and carry out formal quality planning and continual improvement programs related to processes, products and services.
Ability to assess and generate creative and innovative approaches in a variety of manufacturing and business settings to eliminate “waste” and reduce process variation in line with lean methodology principles.
Take a leadership role in tactical implementation of strategic quality projects. Ability to influence cross-functional teams and lead peers to resolve barriers across multiple plants. Ability to anticipate potential barriers and work within the organization to resolve barriers before they create delays. Ability to identify issues for escalation to senior management with proposed recommendations for resolution.
Establish quality indicators and plans in line with Business Operating Principles and Lean Six Sigma (LSS) thinking. Develop, implement, and maintain programs for identifying, collecting, analyzing, and reporting quality and reliability data, and interpreting results or trends.
Utilize the problem solving methodologies such as 8D, DMAIC, Six Sigma, Red-X and other problem solving tools as required to conduct analysis, identify root causes, develop corrective action and verify effective closure and removal of issues.
Application of process mapping, process capability, quality planning, auditing, FMEA, control plan, containment plan, statistical process control (SPC) and measurement system analysis (MSA). Ability to successfully communicate and implement these concepts across the organization including training at appropriate levels. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to plan, organize and schedule activities while leading and coordinating team activities and projects in a multi-site and cross-functional environment.
Lead teams as required to accomplish cross-functional goals such as warranty reduction, process control improvement and supplier quality improvement.
Able to use logic and persuasion to move projects forward on schedule.
Establish and maintain quality indicators, define improvement plans, and implement procedures.
Identify opportunities, develop remedial action, and document results of actions to reduce internal and external quality failure costs.
Reduce cost of poor quality through joint efforts with other functional departments. Lead teams to identify Root Cause using Failure Analysis, Commonality Analysis, 5 Why, etc. Corrective action development using 8D and IR CAP process. Continuous improvement using DMAIC, FMEAs, Control Plans, SPC, etc. Control plan development including identifying Critical To Quality (CTQ) features (process and product). Analysis of warranty claims, customer complaints, and internal cost of quality to define the CTQs and effective recovery plans. Process FMEA’s or Corrective Actions.
Develop and maintain quality metric reporting systems to enable plants to track key metrics at the necessary frequency with minimal effort - Critical Quality Metrics include: First Pass Yield, DPU, DPMO, Warranty %, VOC scores, etc.
Conduct gage R&R studies for critical gauges. Resolution of supplier related issues. Develop metrics for supplier quality performance. Audit suppliers when required and drive compliance to SVPP process. Quickly & effectively develop data collection systems, analyze data, perform statistical analysis, and make conclusions from data. Ability to develop action plans to address opportunities identified from the data analysis. Ability to coordinate cross-site 8D analysis to determine root cause and effective corrective action plans. Monitor quality indicators and act to correct unfavorable trends which adversely affect assigned area of functional or product line responsibility. |
