Job Description

General Description The project/maintenance engineer is a maintenance staff position with the responsibility of managing small plant projects and acting as a technical expert in small modifications. The position is key to achieving plant operating improvement and preserving the value of plant assets by analyzing equipment needs and performance data and implementing both CAPEX and plant improvement projects to ensure capacity and competitiveness of the plant to met future market needs.. This is accomplished though consultation with the management team, engineering, data analysis, and corporate guidelines. Objective The primary objective of the Project/Maintenance Engineer is to develop, plan, and execute small projects within the plant. This includes budgeting, evaluation of the business case for projects, evaluating alternatives, life cycle costing of alternatives, and standardization where possible. Position is also responsible for the execution of plant improvement and optimization projects. Roles and Responsibilities * Develops project scope and deliverables * Develops project schedules and timelines * Ensures regulatory compliance of all projects * Regularly provides updates and reports project status * Performs the front end loading of projects including feasibility studies and preliminary engineering * Manages project budgets * Utilizes MS Project software for project scheduling and management * Develops equipment specifications for purchase * Standardizes equipment were possible * Coordinate activities of outside contractors * Ensures quality of work meets company and industry standards * Keeps current with permitting requirements and all applicable codes and standards * Provides day to day construction management * Manages the installation of new equipment * Commissions new equipment * Ensures new equipment training is completed and is effective * Performs plant engineering functions and troubleshooting * Consults with maintenance dept regarding upcoming projects to ensure consistency and alignment * Ensures new equipment/assets are loaded into CMMS w/ BOMs, nameplate data,etc. * Updates plant drawings library * Closes projects with accounting when complete * Ensures assets transferred to asset ledger and functional locations assigned
