Lean Champion
Location:  Woonsocket, RI

The Lean Champion will drive the continuous improvement of processes and systems in the Company and implement programs that will have long-term benefits of improving business results. Coordinates continuous improvement goal activities, trains employees in Lean concepts and works closely with management to develop and drive the culture towards a “lean manufacturing” environment.


  • Works with the management team to develop and sustain a Kaizen program that supports Company operational goals
  • Trains new employees in Lean Manufacturing during New Hire orientation
  • Develops and/or implements tools and methods for ongoing measurement of quality, cost, delivery and safety. This includes management aids for 5S, training, productivity, scrap, hour by hour, etc.
  • Leads and participates in Continuous Improvement events such as 5S, 5 Why, Kaizen events, etc.
  • Performs Kaizen event group training; assists in development of mission statements and team goals, forming Kaizen event teams, completing report-outs and sustaining improvement activities
  • Supports daily continuous improvement of all employees, with a goal of individual employee development, developing a culture of continuous improvement and eliminating waste
  • Helps to develop supervisory and management staff in use of Lean manufacturing principles
  • Serve as a conduit for best practices sharing
  • Is a visible leader in the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives, responsible for overall direction, coordination and evaluation of Kaizen events


  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistics
  • Ability to collect and analyze data to assist in driving continuous improvement in all manufacturing and office operations
  • Experience instructing employees in lean methodology and tools
  • Experience facilitating kaizen events
  • Proven success transforming organizations in Lean enterprises
  • Good PC Skills with strong knowledge of Excel
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Working knowledge of Value Stream Mapping


  • B.S. or BSME, preferably in industrial, mechanical or electrical engineering
  • Formal training and certification in continuous improvement processes such as Lean Manufacturing implementation methods and procedures
  • 3-5 years related experience and/or training in Lean Manufacturing, TQM or Six Sigma
  • Six-Sigma green belt preferred
