Under the general direction of the Director of Performance Excellence, the Process Improvement Consultant is responsible for facilitating strategic/operational changes and process improvement initiatives/projects designed to achieve significant results in the key areas of clinical quality, cost effectiveness, service delivery, process redesign, outcomes measurement, risk avoidance/control and regulatory compliance. Collaborates with a broad constituency at all organizational level to advocate the adoption and application of quality and process improvement concepts and principles aimed at improving value to our patients.
Principal Duties and ResponsibilitiesMeets all standards of the Patient Satisfaction Initiative Criteria in order to make Jefferson Health (AJH) the hospital of choice for Patients and Employees.
Coordinates all aspects of commissioned process improvement initiatives/projects, including defining and measuring the problem, conducting detailed work analysis (i.e. work sampling, process flow analyses, value stream mapping, DMAIC, etc.) and developing and controlling outcomes based process improvement and implementation work plans.
Provides direct support to process improvement teams through activities such as: setting agendas, identifying resource needs, facilitating meetings, explaining improvement methodologies/tools to be used identifying, solving problems, providing analytic support and preparing team leaders.
Performs data management and analysis and employs effective evaluation methodologies to determine whether current/proposed activities are consistent with the strategic business objective and/or project/work plans and produce the desired results.
Keeps appropriate parties apprised of overall progress, communicates with, and listens to, management staff in an effort to understand and resolve the challenges/barriers to the smooth execution/implementation of process improvement activities; identifies problematic issues and recommends appropriate solutions.
Ensures that results and cost benefits for assigned projects are clearly and accurately documented in accordance with established procedures.
Researches and analyzes operational, market, clinical and financial data to provide process improvement leadership with potential areas of opportunity for transformational change in business processes, clinical outcomes and/or services of broad significance to the organization.
Keeps abreast of current trends impacting Lean Six Sigma concepts/methodologies to ensure that best practices are utilized in process improvement efforts.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Experience: 5 years of related quality/process improvement work experience that would demonstrate attainment of the requisite job knowledge/skills, including a minimum of 2 years in providing consulting services utilizing Lean methodologies in a large organizational setting. Work experience in hospital operations/management and/or management consulting is strongly preferred. Education & Training: Bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to the requirements of the position. Master’s degree in a discipline related to the requirements of the position is preferred. License, Certification & Registration: LEAN Six Sigma Black Belt Certification preferred. Current driver’s license valid in the state of Pennsylvania. Other Requirements: Outstanding verbal and written communication skills. Excellent planning problem solving, analysis and research abilities. Ability to interact effectively with all levels of organization. Demonstrates excellent customer service. Current auto insurance with proof of coverage required.
